The Jalalabad Association of NSW Inc. was established to provide a platform for the greater Sylheti community residing in New South Wales, fostering harmonious relationships, preserving cultural heritage, and promoting social wellbeing and solidarity.
Over time, the association has evolved into a vibrant social and cultural hub, offering a meeting place for Jalalabadians in NSW, while expanding its activities to support the welfare and wellbeing of people from the Sylhet region through social, cultural, and economic initiatives.
As an apex organization representing individuals of Sylheti origin, the Jalalabad Association promotes cooperation, cultural expression, education, social values, and fraternity among its members and with community organizations both locally and internationally.
Our focus is to reflect our heritage and culture, fostering community connections and unity in all our activities—aligned with our national values, cultural identity, and pride.
The Jalalabad Association of NSW regularly hosts events for its members, including:
- Organizing Iftar Mahfils and Qur’an competitions for children.
- Coordinating and managing Hajj training programs for pilgrims.
- Conducting Eid reunion programs.
- Hosting picnics and annual sports events, accompanied by community lunches.
- Undertaking fundraising initiatives to support funeral-related expenses.
- Organizing community cruises.
- Arranging formal receptions for distinguished guests visiting Sydney.
- Hosting award dinners recognizing students who have memorized the Qur’an, completed the Higher School Certificate (HSC), or gained admission to selective schools.
- Engaging in other community-focused activities.
The association also supports its members in areas such as social development, leadership, community service, and more. Additionally, the Jalalabad Association responds to humanitarian crises and provides assistance during natural disasters or emergencies.
